The EU press release on the pass-through of the copyright reform

“We welcome the approval of the Directive on copyright in the Digital Single Market by the European Parliament. This Directive protects creativity in the digital age and ensures that the EU citizens benefit from wider access to content and new guarantees to fully protect their freedom of expression online. The new rules will strengthen our creative industries, which represent 11.65 million jobs, 6.8% of GDP and are worth €915,000 million per year.

The Copyright Directive protects freedom of expression, a core value of the European Union. It sets strong safeguards for users, making clear that everywhere in Europe the use of existing works for purposes of quotation, criticism, review, caricature as well as parody are explicitly allowed. This means that memes and similar parody creations can be used freely. The interests of the users are also preserved through effective mechanisms to swiftly contest any unjustified removal of their content by the platforms.

The text adopted today by the European Parliament will now need to be formally endorsed by the Council of the European Union in the coming weeks. Once published on the Official Journal of the EU, Member States will have 24 months to transpose the new rules into their national legislation.

Quadripartite EU meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping

The Elysée said in a statement that a united front is "necessary to truly defend the interests and values that unite the countries of the European Union" and to protect the bloc from "the great transformations of the contemporary world".

Energy equipment manufacturer Schneider Electric, banking giant BNP Paribas and shipbuilder CMA CGM also signed deals with Chinese companies worth some €6 billion, €1 billion and €1.2 billion, according to France's Le Figaro newspaper.

France and Germany also said last month that they would look to reform EU competition policies after the Commission rejected a proposed merger between Alstom and Siemens which they'd hoped would result in the emergence of a European champion capable of competing with Chinese rivals.

EU passes controversial copyright reform despite public criticism

The deal brings measures that would make platforms such as YouTube and Facebook liable for copyrighted material on their sites one step closer to conclusion.

How did we get here? European copyright law dates back to 2001 and the European Court of Justice has long been calling for it to be modernized in line with the digital era. EU officials are cognizant of the fact that a lot of material that is copyrighted ends up on the Internet without the original owners being fairly remunerated.

Why it is controversial: Tuesday's vote was the culmination of three years bitter debate. Tech giants, which make huge profits from advertising on content they host, and supporters of a free internet opposed the reform. Critics fear this will lead to the installation of "upload filters." Publishers and artists were in favor, as they sought a better return on the content they produce.

European federalism was pushed and financed by US spy chiefs

(Yet another outdated article, but this time, it's of historical relevance, and I am glad to say that this seems not to be distorted by any conspiratorial crackers who try to degrade the European Union, and direct it into any Jewish conspiracy in favour of the Great Replacement. This is something itneresting to read, and I guess that it will find a lot of agreement.
I also found it in someone's post on the Diapsora, but forgot to note it down. So, if this certain person comes along my post, feel free to leave a comment highlighting yourself for the others. Thanks a lot!)
The documents were found by Joshua Paul, a researcher at Georgetown University in Washington. They include files released by the US National Archives. Washington's main tool for shaping the European agenda was the American Committee for a United Europe, created in 1948. The chairman was Donovan, ostensibly a private lawyer by then.

The European Youth Campaign, an arm of the European Movement, was wholly funded and controlled by Washington. The Belgian director, Baron Boel, received monthly payments into a special account. When the head of the European Movement, Polish-born Joseph Retinger, bridled at this degree of American control and tried to raise money in Europe, he was quickly reprimanded.

centralized vs decentralized

if a centralized society approach is not serving the interest / to the benefit of people – they – the people have every right to become decentralized / independent – generate their own food security money energy laws.

because the responsibility they have given away ( to Washington, Brussels, Berlin, London) was abused.

Image/photo

as democracies have grown bigger (in population, in size, Greece (where democracy was invented) are now only 10Mio people) – as power was more concentrated (fascism = fascio = concentration of power) – democracies have grown more corrupt and more fascist.

a rough overview of corruption in the EU

With an “pretty obvious to spot” phone call bribery scam Rupert Murdoch (Fox News) was able to “buy” 5% of EU politicians.
“I once asked Rupert Murdoch why he was so opposed to the European Union. ‘That’s easy,’ he replied. ‘When I go into Downing Street (London/England) they do what I say; when I go to Brussels they take no notice.’” (src)
On forbes lists

#39Powerful People 2018

if he would have done it a little more clever – maybe he could have been able to buy 10%.

this is 10% too much.

and all politicians involved had to step down.

I don’t usually share these, but times are such that any and every step is needed…

Petition: Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU.

If you’re a UK citizen or currently living in the UK, please consider signing. Even if you aren't, please consider resharing.

If you want Britain to crash out of the EU and into even more turmoil, then of course don't sign, because this one ain't for you.

On Donald Trump Jr.'s op-ed in the Daily Telegraph

“With the deadline fast approaching, it appears that democracy in the UK is all but dead,” he said.

“Now, the clock has virtually run out and almost all is lost – exactly as the European elites were hoping,” he said. “Some pro-Brexit politicians even suggest that Mrs May herself is trying to sabotage Brexit, by insisting that Parliament agree to a deal that essentially keeps Britain bound to the EU indefinitely.”

“In a way, you could say that Brexit and my father’s election are one and the same – the people of both the UK and the US voted to uproot the establishment for the sake of individual freedom and independence, only to see the establishment try to silence their voices and overturn their mandates,” he added.

(in German)

  • Our current theory of money is wrong:
    • With every new credit (purely digital Giral-Fiat-book) banks generate new money out of nothing
    • How God created the world, Bankers create money from pure nothing, “creatio ex deo” (imho: this explains why many bankers think they are god-like)
      • the intermediary function (banks lend only saved money to others) is a folk tale, which even one or the other Banker and finance minister still believes
      • Banks are not “Intermediaries”
      • the Bank does not check how much savings money is in the stocking – this fact can not be ignored anymore
      • Fiat money: since 1971 (Nixon, Vietnam) Gold guarantee for dollars over
now it’s just “modern money,” “Fiat Money” (paper/ones-and-zeros on hard drives without the guaranteed value/exchange for gold/oil/potatoes… you name it)
      • If the state forces you to pay taxes in a certain currency, this currency gains value just because of this fact
    • founding idea of the European Union was to create a “United States of Europe” with a single currency.
    • Problem: asymmetric shock at the abandonment of the National currency
      • One argument was that the Euro would provide protection against financial markets, the exact OPPOSITE was the case. (Bug or intention? Could also be a Goldman Sachs intention )
      • (Youth)Unemployment in many euro-zone countries too high: 2019-01 Statista: youth unemployment in Europe (src: https://www.statista.com/statistics/266228/youth-unemployment-rate-in-eu-countries/)
        • 20% France
        • 32.6% Spain
        • 33% Italy
        • 40% Greece
        • 23% Croatia
        • 15% EU total
        • 6% Germany
        • German Ex-Minister of Finance Scheuble: “Has called the widening of the wealth gap between rich and poor – fake news”
      • if private households and private banks and companies save in the crisis, that’s okay, but if the state saves in the crisis, it’s just wrong because the whole economy comes to a halt.
      • Portugal with left government has ended the austerity course, has returned to growth, contrary to austerity policies of Greece, Spain, Italy but also Germany (“black zero” / zero debt policy)
      • “state intervention is necessary” “the free market does not guarantee full employment”
      • either the Euro will be reformed, that unemployment will fall again
      • “Macron must deliver” or: “Le Pen” is elected
        • the countries are forced for political reasons to finish the Euro project
        • “fun” fact: France’s President Mitterand (until 1995) has made/demanded the introduction of a single currency as a condition for the reunification of Germany. 😬 (i would say this backfired badly accross Europe)
        • a current account/export surplus always leads to a debt accumulation abroad and “at some point, that’s not good”
        • “Money and credit are social constructions without regulation would be unthinkable”
        • In times when many people take loans, there is also a lot of money created, incomes strongly correlates with debt
        • In 1929, two crises hit at once:
          - the largest real estate bubble ever
          - the largest stock market bubble ever
          - when people use the money they have for debt eradication instead of consumption, then of course, everywhere the income and also the GDP falls, because the sales of businesses (internal market) stagnates
        • Glass-Seagell Act:
          - Separation of banks in:
          - speculative banks with high yealds but also high risks (hedge fund start collecting at $1Mio)
          - Consumer banks with state Deposit insurance
          - so people don’t have to be afraid, that in the next crisis the whole banks die and people run to the Bank, because they are afraid that they can no longer withdraw their money
          - was de facto cancelled under Bill Clinton but also inactivated before
          - reason:
          - Deutsche Bank was not subject to this regulation (it is a universal Bank (consumer – but speculators-Bank))
          - New York banks complained that this regulatory competition is unfair competition
          - Consensus during the Soviet Union:
          - the inequality of income could not be too high
          - we wanted to show the GDR:
          - “here we are all rich, even our poor are richer than your middle class”
          - this consensus has ensured that the redistribution of wealth was “Scandinavian” (massive redistribution)
          - Consensus: It is good, if the German middle class has more income
          - In 1970, probably triggered by oil shock crisis, the consensus broke up, corporate profits have fallen, and companies started to downwind wages
  • breaking with old thinking/paradigm:
    ====================================
  • lowering wages increases company’s profits
    • because you think -> company’s investments would also increase -> with increasing wages -> productivity also increases
      • but this classic “Adam Smith theory” concept has reached limits
      • Markets can:
        • produce Innovation, productivity and beautiful product
        • but you expected too much of them
        • they simply do not care about society
          - if you believe that the companies invest so much that we have full employment you are mistaken / taken for a ride.
          - “Entrepreneurs (unfortunately) technically are not in charge/feel responsible for raising the public well beeing, all they care about is profits” (so do the Banks) (i partly disagree, everyone has responsibility to take, nobody can 100% outsource responsibility)

Solution for the financial crisis: public spending, more government deficits – black Zero exactly wrong policy, therefore recession follows

The concept of the Euro:
  • we need a European Central Bank, Yes, but we also need a European Ministry of Finance (Paul de Grauwe 1990 Brussels)
  • because:
    • if money creation in the private sector is not high enough (as now) i.e. if private investment are lagging – unemployment follows
    • which can only be removed by government expenditure increase
    • In my opinion the logical conclusion:
      • in this structural crisis (which we still feel since 2008)
        • the state should not only spend more, in a way, so it reaches the “real” economy
        • the state should also give loans (without large collateral) for:
          - real existing people who want to build a house (to inhabit themselves)
          - real existing people who want to pursue a corporate idea
          - real existing people that have had a company for serveral years and now look for refinincing old loans, more invest more into their own (maybe with a fine, if they just take the money and run… never let them back into the country)
          - there is no European contract, that austerity policies are the only allowed answer in the crisis
          - Prof Dr Ehnts sees responsibility to act correctly (like Portugal) and counter-steer until private investment starts again with politicians (that unfortunately are hiring consultants from private Banks and McKinsey and advocate exactly the wrong thing)

Prof. Dr. Dirk H. Ehnts explains the debt-money economic system:

What is debt? – state countercyclical expenditure

  • In capitalism, we have companies that want to make profits, i.e. their revenues must be above expenditure
  • in other words, we need another sector where expenditure is (constantly) above revenue (debt)
  • that means, we always need someone in the economy who is indebted, only then production which is sold and is produced more
  • only then are companies happy
  • there must be someone in this System who will inject more money into the system ( long term ) than he pulls out
  • there are only two options:
    • private sector: households and businesses spending/debt
    • state spending/debt
  • that is, the savings of households and profit of companies are actually generated by government deficits (governmental deficit usually increases by +3% per year, state usually never makes a surpluses, but in Germany now government debt is reduced by Austerity methods, actually not good X-D, will create recession)
  • the idea behind this: state indebts itself until private investment starts, the state can withdraw with investment again, the state always has the possibility to take money out of the system via tax
  • Most people would agree, that unemployment is a bad thing
    • (we can assume that it causes political instability i.e. crime and riots)
    • if we do not want unemployment:
      • then one would have to use the state in such a way that the state makes expenditure when the private sector is restrained with expenditure (counter-cyclical)
      • if you believe that unemployment is nothing bad, because people can do something else, well…

Macron: The last Democrat of France?

if Macron can not deliver an improvement in financial-economic Situation: The winner is nationalism and Le Pen

The election of Le Pen will be the end of the Euro project and will probably lead to a new nationalism in France, but also in Germany, just like Hitler’s election results were always good when the (financial)economy was non functional and many people were unemployed. (after 1929 crisis)

“Fun” fact: France’s president until 1995 Mitterand has made/demanded the introduction of a single currency as a condition for the reunification of Germany, now, among other things, France is also suffering economically from this financial merger.

If France leaves the Euro-Projekt and reestablishs a national currency “New Franc” it could devaluate as much as 30% and thus get an competition gain of +30% ahead of Germany.

Prof Dr Ehnts does not believe that the Euro is a deliberate faulty construction “we all make mistakes” X-D (well some mistakes you only make once… )

One hope associated with the Euro was more protection against financial markets – the exact opposite happened. (who brought this in circulation? Goldman Sachs? another “unwritten” but commonly believed lie?)

The main victims of the crisis: the young people

“we are creating a lost Generation that will rise up against Europe”

    ====================================

House of Commons speaker John Bercow refuses third vote on Brexit Deal

(I guess that he is sick of all the dis-orda in the House, which is the reason why he had to cut it all out. Frankly, I am thankful for this decision - they were in no way ready to ever find a meaningful and final decision if they weren't told to stop. The constructive face in this mess had long ended, it was a dying carcass that didn't want to accept its demise.)
Downing Street was blindsided by the announcement and unable to give a response at its regular afternoon briefing for journalists. “The speaker did not forewarn us of the content of his statement or the fact that he was making one,” May’s spokeswoman said.

“The Leader of the House is playing with her electronic device, and so is the deputy chief whip. I didn’t include him in the category of very senior people in the House but that’s a debatable proposition I readily grant.”

European Union proceeds in protection of whistleblowers

"Member countries finally heard all the calls for this text. We had to fight for the final agreement to live up to expectations," the Parliament's lead negotiator, French Socialist Virginie Rozière, said in a statement.

Negotiations were almost derailed twice because of disagreements between the European Parliament and national governments: first when the Council's legal service recommended excluding fiscal matters from the scope, then when EU powerhouses such as France and Germany insisted internal reporting of breaches of EU laws should be a mandatory first step for whistleblowers.

"I am happy that we have reached a balanced system that encourages employers to solve problems internally but also allows whistleblowers to turn to public authorities without fear of retaliation," European Commissioner for Justice Věra Jourová said.

“I don’t want tomorrow’s Europe to become the one you would draw with your neo-liberal nationalist friends,” Loiseau told Le Pen on public TV France 2’s flagship political show.

Teehee. She's funny, but still, I don't like her.

Loiseau said she did not know whether Macron’s Republic On the Move party would eventually choose her. Loiseau’s name, as well as that of Health Minister Agnes Buzyn, have circulated as possible top candidates in French media.

Hungarian PM Orbán half-heartedly apologises for hate-fueled electoral campaign

According to a copy of one letter reviewed by Reuters on Thursday, Orban asked the leader of the Flemish Christian Democrats, Wouter Beke, to reconsider his proposal to eject Fidesz.

"It is no secret that there are serious disagreements... on the issue of migration, the protection of Christian culture and the future of Europe," Orban wrote. "It is also no secret that we do not wish to change our position on these issues."

The European Union has long criticised Orban and Fidesz over policies that Brussels says threaten the rule of law in Hungary by imposing ruling party control over the judiciary, media and other institutions. Fidesz rejects this criticism.

The New Cold war that "The West" is about to lose - Russia follows USA follows China military buildup out of fear

Update: 2018-12: Russia has successfully tested AVANGARD HYPERSONIC GLIDE VEHICLE (HGV) Rendering US Missile defense useless

… the new costly weapons race predicted by Gorbachev has already begun.

I really wonder if Trump considered the consequences, i guess not, maybe he should have sat down with Gorbachev and not Goldman-Sachs before quitting the INF-treaty with Russia – starting a new cold war.

Now USA and Israel can go back to the drawing board…for another round of cat and mouse. Image/photo

More money for military buildup – more powder that could accidentally explode.

“Trump reassured allies and partners that the United States remains committed to NATO, noting that the missile defense review directs the Pentagon “to prioritize the $ALE of American mi$$ile defen$e and technologie$ to our allie$ and to our partner$.” (src: thehill.com)

….and who ever wants to build up massive state deficits in $debt to the U$.

“But he also criticized allies, saying they need to do a better job of sharing costs.”

… with “sharing costs” Trump means the world should buy more U$ weapons to stay safe.

It translates into Trump wants Poland and NATO to pay Lockheed Martin for the arms race, after all it’s for THEIR security, isn’t it?

It will be billion$ and billion$ into private US-pockets that avoid taxes even in U$A.

This is what happens if not brains but money rules the world.

2018-02: US has spent more than $40 billion on missile defense projects over the last 15 years, and has no real credible capability to show for it.

2019.03: France wants to share Aircraft carrier costs with Germany

US retreat from INF (anti-missiles treaty) could be more about China (anti-access) than Russia

“American hard-liners feel constrained by the treaty” (nytimes.com)

IMHO China has worked on an anti-access strategy against access of US-aircraft-carriers (THE weapon of US powerproject) to it’s waters and thus USA wants to step back from the INF treaty to develop missiles that can hit China anti-access-missiles before those missiles hit US-aircraft carriers (it’s all war games in the head of military planners).

But i have never seen any statement saying: “We the US step back from the anti-missile-treaty because the Chinese build so many land based anti-foreign-ship-access-to-our-waters missiles” (but we will blame it on the “badass” the Russians)

this claim is backed up by this article:

China rejects German appeal to join endangered cold war-era nuclear treaty

  • Politburo member Yang Jiechi says Chinese weapons are defensive and don’t pose a threat
  • German Chancellor Angela Merkel (WOW SHE IS FINALLY DOING SOMETHING GOOD) is calling for a global medium-range treaty to take account of China’s growing missile power
(Liu Zhen2019-02-17 src)

“It would allow Washington to finally compete with Beijing in building similar weapons previously banned under the treaty.” (src: nationalinterest.org)

as a start: US please stop lying in public and state your real reasons and the world community COULD find a solution to this mess. THANK YOU 🙂

let’s get this straight: it is NOT COOL to build many many boxes full of explosives – it just needs one terrorist/saboteur to drop some passports and a matchstick and the whole situation could explode – as it was during ww1. (militarization for maybe economic reasons, a lot of alliances were forged, and then a matchstick was dropped… and Germany maybe should have not sided with Austria and Russia not with Hungary)

Also China is working on 4x Air-Craft carriers – (3x secondhand, 1x selfmade) one – even bought from AUSTRALIA! (there are a lot of Chinese people in Australia, but also from India, yes they try to expand economically, yes they try to expand their influence, but, the Chinese there might be ARROGANT (not all of them) AND SPEAK NO ENGLISH (some raised there speak very well), BUT THEY ARE NOT VIOLENT OR AGGRESSIVE!!!)

“During the Cold War, George Kennan and his ilk essentially argued that the Russians were, as a result of a long history of foreign invasion and occupation, paranoid and fearful of enemies on their borders.

Their classic response was to push their borders and spheres outwards to provide a buffer against hostile forces.

See the Warsaw Pact nations.

In this context the wars in Ukraine and Georgia could be seen as a defensive reaction against the forward advance of NATO countries after the Cold War.” (Russia/Moscow fearful of possible US/NATO-Pershing-missile-decapitation strike, src)

“We would very much want not to get to the point of new missile crises.

No one will benefit from those developments.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin

Such weapons were seen as particularly dangerous since they take only a few minutes to reach their targets, leaving little time for political leaders to ponder a response and raising the threat of a nuclear war in case of a false attack warning. (src: DefenseNews)

“Russia doesn’t plan to deploy missiles banned by the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces treaty that the US has said it plans to abandon, Putin said.

But if the US does, “Russia will be forced to produce and deploy weapons that can be used not only against the territories from which we face this direct threat but also those where the decision is made to use these missiles,” he said.

The US and its allies are laying the groundwork to deploy new intermediate-range missiles in Europe for the first time since they were banned by the treaty. With a second pact covering nuclear weapons likely to expire in two years, the risks of confrontation are growing.” (src: economictimes.indiatimes.com)

Mikhail Gorbachev: A New Nuclear Arms Race Has Begun

Mikhail Gorbachev (7th and last leader of the Soviet Union): Oct. 25, 2018

Image/photo

President Trump says he plans to withdraw from a nonproliferation treaty that I signed with Ronald Reagan.

It’s just the latest victim in the militarization of world affairs.”

“This was a first step. It was followed in 1991 by the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, which the Soviet Union signed with President George H.W. Bush, our agreement on radical cuts in tactical nuclear arms, and the New Start Treaty, signed by the presidents of Russia and the United States in 2010.”

“There are still too many nuclear weapons in the world, but the American and Russian arsenals are now a fraction of what they were during the Cold War. At the Nuclear Nonproliferation Review Conference in 2015, Russia and the United States reported to the international community that 85 percent of those arsenals had been decommissioned and, for the most part, destroyed.

Brain Jogger: What is this political cartoon trying to say?: That USDollars can eat brains – especially those of Donald the Trumpet.

Today, this tremendous accomplishment, of which our two nations can be rightfully proud, is in jeopardy. President Trump announced last week the United States’ plan to withdraw from the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty and his country’s intention to build up nuclear arms.”

“The [I.N.F. Treaty](https://www.startpage.com/do/dsearch?query=I.N.F. Treaty) is not the first victim of the militarization of world affairs.

[In 2002, the United States withdrew from the Antiballistic Missile Treaty](https://www.startpage.com/do/dsearch?query=2002 United States Antiballistic Missile Treaty); this year, from the [Iran nuclear deal](https://www.startpage.com/do/dsearch?query=Iran nuclear deal).

Military expenditures have soared to astronomical levels and keep rising.

As a pretext for the withdrawal from the I.N.F. Treaty, the United States invoked Russia’s alleged violations of some of the treaty’s provisions.

Russia has raised similar concerns regarding American compliance, at the same time proposing to discuss the issues at the negotiating table to find a mutually acceptable solution.

But over the past few years, the United States has been avoiding such discussion. I think it is now clear why.

With enough political will, any problems of compliance with the existing treaties could be resolved. But as we have seen during the past two years, the president of the United States has a very different purpose in mind. It is to release the United States from any obligations, any constraints, and not just regarding nuclear missiles.

The United States has in effect taken the initiative in destroying the entire system of international treaties and accords that served as the underlying foundation for peace and security following World War II.

Yet I am convinced that those who hope to benefit from a global free-for-all are deeply mistaken.

There will be no winner in a “war of all against all” — particularly if it ends in a nuclear war.

And that is a possibility that cannot be ruled out.

An unrelenting arms race, international tensions, hostility and universal mistrust will only increase the risk.

Is it too late to return to dialogue and negotiations? I don’t want to lose hope.

I hope that Russia will take a firm but balanced stand.

I hope that America’s allies will, upon sober reflection, refuse to be launchpads for new American missiles.

I hope the United Nations, and particularly members of its Security Council, vested by the United Nations Charter with primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security, will take responsible action.

Faced with this dire threat to peace, we are not helpless.

We must not resign, we must not surrender.

Mikhail Gorbachev is the former president of the Soviet Union.

This article was translated by Pavel Palazhchenko from the Russian.”

“President Vladimir Putin said Russia would target the U.S. with new advanced weapons if Washington deploys intermediate-range missiles in Europe, a threat that appeared aimed at holding the line but leaving open the possibility of negotiations after the breakdown of a nuclear treaty, writes Ann M. Simmons (Los Angeles Times)

Mr. Putin said Russia wasn’t seeking a confrontation with the U.S. and wouldn’t make the first move to deploy the missiles. But if Washington has such plans once it abandons the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty, this “will be a serious threat to us” and Russia will be “forced to provide for mirror and symmetrical actions,” he said.

The Russian leader also announced imminent plans to launch Russia’s first unmanned nuclear submarine. Still, he indicated that he remained open to nuclear-arms-control talks if the U.S. were to initiate them and many of Wednesday’s statements echoed past rhetoric by Russian officials.”

“[Mr. Putin] seems to be fully aware that Russia can ill-afford to ramp up the arms race, but that there are enormous economic, infrastructure, and social challenges facing Russia.”

In 2005 he discovered a draft document on a Pentagon website that proposed a change in U.S. nuclear doctrine to include the possibility of a preemptive nuclear strike.

Even though Secretary Rumsfeld had not approved the change, its publication provoked a reaction from some members of Congress.[5]” (src)

well… not exactly:

For 20 Years the Nuclear Launch Code at US Minuteman Silos Was 00000000

Karl Smallwood – TodayIFoundOut.com

11/29/13 7:00am

Filed to: weapons

Today I found out that during the height of the Cold War, the US military put such an emphasis on a rapid response to an attack on American soil, that to minimize any foreseeable delay in launching a nuclear missile, for nearly two decades they intentionally set the launch codes at every silo in the US to 8 zeroes.

We guess the first thing we need to address is how this even came to be in the first place. Well, in 1962 JFK signed the National Security Action Memorandum 160, which was supposed to ensure that every nuclear weapon the US had be fitted with a Permissive Action Link (PAL), basically a small device that ensured that the missile could only be launched with the right code and with the right authority.

There was particularly a concern that the nuclear missiles the United States had stationed in other countries, some of which with somewhat unstable leadership, could potentially be seized by those governments and launched. With the PAL system, this became much less of a problem.

Beyond foreign seizure, there was also simply the problem that many U.S. commanders had the ability to launch nukes under their control at any time. Just one commanding officer who wasn’t quite right in the head and World War III begins. As U.S. General Horace M. Wade stated about General Thomas Power:
I used to worry about General Power. I used to worry that General Power was not stable. I used to worry about the fact that he had control over so many weapons and weapon systems and could, under certain conditions, launch the force. Back in the days before we had real positive control [i.e., PAL locks], SAC had the power to do a lot of things, and it was in his hands, and he knew it.
To give you an idea of how secure the PAL system was at this time, bypassing one was once described as being “about as complex as performing a tonsillectomy while entering the patient from the wrong end_._” This system was supposed to be essentially hot-wire proof, making sure only people with the correct codes could activate the nuclear weapons and launch the missiles.

However, though the devices were supposed to be fitted on every nuclear missile after JFK issued his memorandum, the military continually dragged its heels on the matter. In fact, it was noted that a full 20 years after JFK had order PALs be fitted to every nuclear device, half of the missiles in Europe were still protected by simple mechanical locks. Most that did have the new system in place weren’t even activated until 1977.

Those in the U.S. that had been fitted with the devices, such as ones in the Minuteman Silos, were installed under the close scrutiny of Robert McNamara, JFK’s Secretary of Defence. However, The Strategic Air Command greatly resented McNamara’s presence and almost as soon as he left, the code to launch the missile’s, all 50 of them, was set to 00000000.

Oh, and in case you actually did forget the code, it was handily written down on a checklist handed out to the soldiers. As Dr. Bruce G. Blair, who was once a Minuteman launch officer, stated:
Our launch checklist in fact instructed us, the firing crew, to double-check the locking panel in our underground launch bunker to ensure that no digits other than zero had been inadvertently dialed into the panel.
This ensured that there was no need to wait for Presidential confirmation that would have just wasted valuable Russian nuking time. To be fair, there was also the possibility that command centers or communication lines could be wiped out, so having a bunch of nuclear missiles sitting around un-launchable because nobody had the code was seen as a greater risk by the military brass than a few soldiers simply deciding to launch the missiles without proper authorization.

Dr. Blair, whose resume to date is far to long to write out here, is the one who broke this “8 zeros” news to the world in his 2004 article “Keeping Presidents in the Nuclear Dark.” He also outlined the significant disconnect between the nation’s elected leaders and the military when it came to nuclear weapons during the Cold War.

Dr. Blair had previously made waves in 1977 when he wrote another article entitled “The Terrorist Threat to World Nuclear Programs“. He had first attempted to communicate the serious security problems at the nuclear silos to congressmen starting around 1973. When that information fell on mostly deaf ears_,_ he decided to outline it for the public in this 1977 article where he described how just four people acting in tandem could easily activate a nuclear launch in the silos he had worked in. Further, amongst other things, the PAL system McNamara had touted was barely in operation and thus launches could be authorised by anyone without Presidential authority. He also noted how virtually anyone who asked for permission to tour the launch facility was granted it with little to no background checks performed. It is, perhaps, not coincidence that the PAL systems were all activated and the codes changed the same year this article was published.

So to recap, for around 20 years, the Strategic Air Command went out of there way to make launching a nuclear missile as easy, and quick, as possible. To be fair, they had their reasons, such as the fact that the soldiers in the silos in the case of a real nuclear war may have needed to be able to launch the missiles without being able to contact anyone on the outside. That said, their actions were in direct violation of the orders of the Commander-in-Chief, the President of the United States, during a time of extreme nuclear tension. Further, not activating this safeguard and lax security ensured that with very little planning, someone with three friends who had a mind to, could have started World War III.

Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Britain but also Germany hate the EU

People have left Bulgaria in droves out of poverty.

The EU together with IMF and Goldman Sachs and finance ministers who complete played stupid and did not stand up to those Washington-entities egoistic have increased austerity, poverty and worsened the problem of migration within Europe and beyond.

The EU is not Europe: Banks were rescued – Refugees not

The EU has not rescued the financial system – it rescued the banks – not with ECB money – but by taking the money from the mouth of their citizen.

The latest inability of the EU in Brussels to respond to waves of refugees from the latest US-Regime-Change-Attempt-Middle-East-Syria and also exploited-to-the-bone-Africa – have just shown once more – how ineffective lobby driven politicians have become.

In 99% they do not solve problems, they make things worse.

In a globalized world without borders “the market” commands them and they have to react to avoid the complete destruction of states and societies.

The One-Currency-Fits-All-Project: Doomed to fail

Basically everybody was negatively impacted by the €-project – okay Poland got new highways – great – but that was about it – the Euro-Zone does not stand for peace but for austerity, exploitation and lack of transparent democratic processes.

As much i can understand Brits that are sad about their leaving the EU, look at what is happening:

Ex-Goldman-Sachs advisor Neill Gatley says Britain should pay a hefty price of their leaving – in Euros of course – in cash of course – to scare off any other nation that thinks about breaking free from the project.

This is mafia style!

So the EU-Brussels is by this logic a mafia organization taking hostage whole nations.

Not exactly what you expect from a “peace project”.

one currency to screw up all of Europe

Mitterand (France Ex-Ex-Ex-President) wanted the €uro so badly out of fear of a reunified and economically more powerful Germany with a strong West-Mark.

Image/photoNot all Germans were happy or even profited from reunification.

Yes the supplies with bananas has become better for East-Germany – while at the same time they got hit by massive unemployment.

Now they can not even buy the bananas – so they – again have no access to expensive bananas – they can only look at it – no touch.

Compare it to Cuba and Venezuela.

Yes people in Cuba and Venezuela do not earn a lot by international standards – but at least they have jobs and cheap bananas.

If Cuba becomes – again – a US colony – who would profit?

Not the poor. I can assure you.

A lot of East-German companies were sold for 1 DM or closed down straight.

Now in 2019 at least some Germans would like to sell “constantly running a deficit” East-Germany to whoever wants to buy it for 1 Deutschmark and get back their West-Mark that was a stable in value currency.

East-Germany is a burden for West-Germany and everybody knew it, also Chancellor Kohl, Bavarian Minister and also the DDR-President knew it.

I am surely not right-wing, but globalization and capitalism “worked so well” for Europe and also Germany (don’t believe your mainstream propaganda press) that 99% of all Germans GAINED NOTHING from OPEN BORDERS, MORE EXPORTS and the EURO.

This is how you explain people voting more and more in favor of FAR-RIGHT or whatever they think is an “ALTERNATIVE” (AfD, “Alternative for Germany”, latest alt-right party that gives Fascism a nice “votable” paint) to the current corrupted not really democratic but largely corporate-lobby driven system.

How the € played out for Germany:

  • PRICES DOUBLED OVER NIGHT
  • GERMANS LOST 50% OF BUYING POWER
  • THEIR INCOMES WERE SLASHED IN HALF
  • AT THE SAME TIME TAXES HAVE BEEN RISING AND RISING
    • 40% ON INCOME
    • 20% DURING SPENDING
    • 22% TAXES ON ELECTRICITY
    • 70% TAXES ON FUEL
… this clearly can not go on forever.

IT IS CATASTROPHIC FOR GERMAN COMPARED TO HOW IT WAS BEFORE.

PEOPLE HATE BRUSSELS.

PEOPLE HATE THE GOVERNMENT IN BERLIN.

PLEASE RUSSIA OR CHINA OR WHOEVER – BUY THE REICHSTAG – BUILD A MASSIVE WALL AROUND IT – TURN IT INTO A MUSEUM OR A THEME PARK OR WHATEVER.

All this newly created hate has to go somewhere – and the super rich elite is afraid of it so they will probably create some new fake enemy for you to be busy with.

While they continue to exploit you and the planet to the bone.

BERLIN, BRUSSELS, the Euro-Currency and Goldman-Sachs HAVE SCREWED UP EUROPE!

WE CAN NOT STAND THE LEGISLATIVE CRAP ANYMORE COMING OUT OF THOSE TWO TOWNS (99% CRAP FOR THE FITLY RICH 1% AND THEIR LOBBYISTS))

Two news on Romania

1. Politico.eu:

The PSD's direction under party chief Liviu Dragnea is important not just for Romania. The party, which helped negotiate Romania's accession to the EU, could also change the political balance within the EU, if Bucharest joins the ranks of hard-line critics of EU institutions, such as Budapest and Warsaw.

PSD members have repeatedly attacked Creţu in recent years, accusing her of working against the interests of her own country when she pointed out Romania’s poor use of EU funds. Creţu said she is tired of “all these personal attacks.”
Critics, both at home and abroad, accuse the PSD of trying to push through legal changes to weaken the independence of the judiciary and help politicians accused of corruption, including senior PSD officials such as Dragnea.

2. Euronews:

Romania, like its neighbour Bulgaria, remains under European Commission (EC) monitoring regarding these reforms via the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM). Annual reports are published to track progress.

"All those who ask for the repeal of the emergency decree are people who don’t know the law, they’re clueless," said Eugen Nicolicea, vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies.

"It is the same direction as in the case of Fidesz or the ruling party in Poland, so it’s about the interest to change Europe, the orientation of the commission – the future commission – and the parliament," said Christian Pirvulescu, a political science professor at SNSPA, told Euronews. Russia follows USA follows China military buildup out of fear

Update: 2018-12: Russia has successfully tested AVANGARD HYPERSONIC GLIDE VEHICLE (HGV) Rendering US Missile defense useless

… the new weapons race predicted by Gorbachev has already begun.

Now USA and Israel can go back to the drawing board…for another round of cat and mouse.

More money for Lockheed Martin and the Russian Military.

“if the U.S. deploys intermediate range missiles in Europe after opting out of the treaty banning their use, it will allow Washington to reach targets deep inside Russia” (Russian Defense Ministry Press Service via AP/File, src: DefenseNews)

Lockheed Martin (biggest high tech weapons company on this planet) slogan: “The Pershing Missile: Peace Through Strength” (src)

Who is it good for? Will the Pharma-Mafia sell more drugs? I don’t get it. For Trump – it’s all about Dollars – weapons sales and profit – but maybe there is a hidden agenda at work here…

“He is critical of the development and deployment of nuclear weaponry by the US, the UK, and France.[4]

So, it's revealed that #TonyBlair is a #traitor to the #British people as he is caught secretly conspiring with #Macron to prevent #Brexit from occurring. This scandalous affair should shock not only the #UnitedKingdom, but the entire free world.

https://www.spiked-online.com/2019/03/12/the-fight-for-brexit-is-only-just-beginning

#news #democracy #UK #EU #europe #EuropeanUnion #Blair

What's next in the Brexit process

1. Al Jazeera:

They both voted against it out of concerns over the so-called backstop protocol of the withdrawal agreement, an insurance policy to keep an open border in the island of Ireland. They argue the backstop could trap the UK within the European Union's trade rules indefinitely, and create a divide between Northern Ireland and the rest of the country.

Confident of the support of some conservative MPs who had voted against her in the last "meaningful vote", the prime minister could also decide to put forward a request to extend article 50 herself. This would buy her time to try and get more concessions from the EU and hold a third vote on her deal.

Opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn announced two weeks ago that his party is committed to backing a second referendum. What options would be on the ballot papers would have to be established by parliament, but they could include remaining in the EU, leaving without a deal, or a number of withdrawal options, including May's deal.

2 The Guardian:

But the German chancellor let it be known at the recent EU-Arab summit in Sharm el-Sheikh that Berlin will not stand in the way, sources have disclosed to the Guardian.

During talks in the Egyptian Red Sea resort last month, Merkel is understood to have insisted that an extension until the European elections on the 23 May would be “very easy”. A longer delay until 30 June, before the parliament convenes would be “easy”, she added.

A greater concern in Brussels is that the EU’s leaders might rule out any extension unless there is a clear reason beyond simply delaying an inevitable no-deal Brexit.

3. Politico.eu:

The emergency tariff regime would apply for up to 12 months, according to a government briefing issued Wednesday morning.

“If we leave without a deal, we will set the majority of our import tariffs to zero whilst maintaining tariffs for the most sensitive industries," he said. “This balanced approach will help to support British jobs and avoid potential price spikes that would hit the poorest households the hardest.”

A set of goods including bananas, raw cane sugar and some kinds of fish would also attract tariffs to protect preferential arrangements the U.K. holds with exporters in developing countries.

[LIVE UPDATE] May travels to Strassebourg to meet Juncker

The Irish premier Leo Varadkar, who was due to begin his journey to America for St Patrick’s Day, returned from Dublin airport and is currently in government buildings for the cabinet briefing.

He will travel to the US to meet Donald Trump during a meeting durng the event of US-Irish friendship. I hope he is going to survive meeting him, and come home safely; he is still needed at the home frontier.

a list of “critical goods” which could be carried on additional ferry sailings chartered in the case of a no-deal Brexit. As the Press Association reports, on the list are medicines for humans and animals, vaccines, infant milk formula, organs for transplants and chemicals for the energy industry. Chris Grayling, the transport secretary, issued contracts totalling £107m in December for ferry firms to run additional services to take the pressure off the Dover-Calais route if the UK leaves the EU without a deal on March 29

It couldn't be more depressing to see how a peaceful and prospering country could be turned into a desperate pit of helpless ministers who are trying to make out the best of a referendum that should have never been mandatory in the first place.

German MEP Manfred Weber to meet Hungarian president Viktor Orbán

(Talkin' 'bout standin' your ground - it has also been said that he was the only member of the EPP to vote against kicking Orbán out. Now, one has to read that he is going to meet this man, for whatever reason (I didn't read the article yet). Let's see what reason he has.)
"I'm hearing very different signals out of Budapest. What's positive, from my point of view, is that there's evidence of a certain reflection process," Weber told German paper Welt am Sonntag, noting that the Hungarian government said it would end its controversial taxpayer-funded anti-Brussels campaign.

Just because his parliamentary group said that they were going to kick him out because he has turned out to be a fierce autocrat doesn't mean he was about to change his behaviour towards his people. He just doesn't want to lose his participation in one of the largest groups in the EU, he would lose his influence in the EU. This has got nothing to do with changes, it's a cheap trick, for which the simple-minded people - like Weber - fall.

Weber also told Welt am Sonntag he would insist on gender parity in top jobs if elected European Commission president, saying he "enjoyed working with women," though he didn't go as far as to call himself a feminist.

(scroll down for German)

Does privatization of health care system pay off in terms of:

  • cost-effectiveness/efficiency
  • better quality of service for the patience
  • or is it yet another privatization-trap – where costs go up and quality goes (even further) down?

comparison of Canada vs USA:

if you want to increase inequality:

keep up austerity and privatization of HealthCare.

Pain is massive in the British health care system:

…and it also starts to grow in other European countries – especially those with harsh austerity measures (Greece, France but Germany also where privatization of health care is in full throttle with e.g. investors buying private practices as an crisis secure investment or US-Mars buying 2000 pet health care doctor pracices and now also goes shopping in Europe)

“University city the British on: A senior doctor has announced there, chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients would have to be rationed because the hospital has too few qualified nurses” …

“The news also struck the death of a senior citizen in the English seaside resort of Clacton, who died last week after having to wait four hours for an emergency ambulance at her home.”

“The NHS, founded 70 years ago and free for all patients, is considered by millions of Britons, despite its weaknesses ” (massive under funding, austerity measures) “to be the proudest achievement of their welfare state” …

“In light of disaster reports from hospitals, a debate has begun on reforms that would be virtually revolutionary for Britain: the introduction of an” NHS tax “, the proceeds of which will be used to finance health care only.

In fact, this would be a change of system – away from tax financing, towards a contributory state health insurance. ” …

“It is largely undisputed among experts that the huge health service, which is one of the largest employers in the world with around 1.5 million employees, not only needs to become more efficient, but also needs more money.” …

in Germany: The British model would thus still be similar to the highly controversial “Citizens’ Insurance”, for the introduction of which in this country, the SPD has advertised in the explorations with the Union parties. The Social Democrats want to oblige all citizens to join such a unitary insurance. …

“The hard state austerity measures in the United Kingdom in recent years has left deep marks, not least in the health care system.” …

“In terms of infant mortality, the UK has fallen from seventh to 19th place in the EU in 25 years, 40 percent fewer nurses and 30 percent fewer doctors than in Germany.

This is also due to the fact that too few specialists were trained for cost reasons.

Healthcare spending is a quarter lower than in Germany.

If you can afford it, you can get private health insurance, but nine out of every ten Britons rely on the NHS alone.”

What about US and Canada?

“In 1972 the Yukon Territory became the last jurisdiction in Canada to adopt the Medical Care Act, which set up a system to provide hospital and physician care to all Canadians.1 Before then, the Canadian and US health care systems were similar. Both were partly public, partly private, partly for profit and partly nonprofit. Both also left a great many citizens uninsured

The costs were also about the same — a little over $300 per person in 1970 — as were outcomes. At that time, life expectancy was about a year longer in the United States.2

But with the implementation of Canadian medicare, the 2 systems rapidly began to diverge in all respects.”

The US (health care) system became more and more costly, leaving increasing numbers of Americans — now about 46 million people (15%) — uninsured.

In 2005, expenditures were twice as high in the US as in Canada — US$6697 per person v. US$3326 in Canada.3

37% of Americans reported that they went without needed care because of cost, compared with 12% of Canadians.3

life expectancy of Americans is now 2.5 years shorter than that of Canadians.2

contrary to popular belief, people in the US do not receive more health care services. They visit their doctors much less often and spend less time in hospital than Canadians do (Table 1). Per population, there are also fewer nurses and hospital beds in the US, although there are slightly more doctors and many more magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) units.5,7

“health care is distributed not according to medical need but, rather, according to the ability to pay”

John Dingell Kept the Faith, From the New Deal to ‘Medicare for All’

The veteran congressman, who has died at age 92, always understood that health care is a right.

A Lesson from Canada: – wenn man die Ungleichheit weiter befeuern möchte: weiter so!

AutoTranslated Quelle: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2565716/

D.h. es steht VIEL EQUIPMENT herum welches nicht zum Einsatz kommt – weil es sich die US Bürger gar nicht mehr leisten können.

“SUPER!” X-D

Italian Judge bribed by Kosovo Mafia – No WhisstleBlower Protection in EU

https://youtu.be/7xFxMpcR4S4

be careful: EU != EUROPE = A lot of countries that are still somewhat independent or do NOT belong to the EU at all (like Switzerland)

is there corruption in Brussels?

YOU BET!

Maria Bamieh says she discovered corruption inside EULEX and she blow the whistle.

Controversy

“In October 2014, British EULEX prosecutor Maria Bamieh, demanded a corruption inquiry against some of her colleagues, after she became aware that a senior civil servant at the Kosovan health ministry, held in prison after corruption charges, discussed his case with her superiors.

Ms Bamieh, who claims to act as a whistleblower, cites several cases of corruption, dating back to 2012.

She was suspended on 24 October.[12]

EU High Representative Federica Mogherini said she would appoint an independent legal expert to probe Eulex.[13][14]
On 24 July 2015, Parliament of Kosovo voted a resolution proposed by VV! that obligates Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga to ask the High Representative Mogherini to initiate investigations.[15]” (src: wikipedia.org)

the mafia story:

Where state and “the free market” fails – in some parts of Italy – the Mafia is the biggest provider of work and jobs, i guess it is nothing else in Kosovo.

So the ONLY way to EFFECTIVELY fight the mafia would be: create jobs that actually pay and fight poverty.

EU history:

it started as a “bullwark” against communism and a corporate CARTELL of Coal and Steel! There you have it!

neither communism nor capitalism found a fix against corruption.

well… okay not exactly (as all European matters it is complicated):

The Treaty of Dunkirk was signed on 4 March 1947, between France and the United Kingdom in Dunkirk (France) as a Treaty of Alliance and Mutual Assistance against a possible German attack in the aftermath of World War II.

The treaty entered into force on 8 September 1947 and preceded the Treaty of Brussels of 1948, which established the Western Union.

According to Marc Trachtenberg, the German threat was a pretext for defense against the USSR.[1]

1948 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Brussels ->North Atlantic Treaty Organisation(NATO, without Germany)

Motivation: The treaty was intended to provide Western Europe with a bulwark against the communist threat and to bring greater collective security. There were cultural and social clauses and concepts for the setting up of a ‘Consultative Council’. Co-operation between Western nations was believed to help stop the spread of Communism[_citation needed_].

“The Treaty of Paris (formally the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community) was signed on 18 April 1951 between France, West Germany, Italy and the three Benelux countries (Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands), establishing the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), which subsequently became part of the European Union.

The treaty came into force on 23 July 1952 and expired on 23 July 2002, exactly fifty years after it came into effect.

The treaty was seen as producing diplomatic and economic stability in western Europe after the Second World War.

Some of the main enemies during the war were now sharing production of coal and steel, the key-resources which previously had been central to the war effort.”

Well i am not so shure if a cartell of Coal and Steel companies is very good at preventing war – they would profit from it!

Also: You can NOT expect a cartell of Coal and Steel companies to protect whistleblowers – the only thing they protect is their economic (production, trade, export) interests, despite it’s democratic painting – at the core this is still what the EU is.

«How long (will the interest rates stay low)?»

“A new series of quarterly targeted longer-term refinancing operations (TLTRO-III) will be launched, starting in September 2019 and ending in March 2021, each with a maturity of two years,” the central bank said in a statement.

“The persistence of uncertainties related to geopolitical factors, the threat of protectionism and vulnerabilities in emerging markets appears to be leaving marks on economic sentiment,” Draghi told reporters Thursday.

The euro zone’s central bank, for those nations that share the single currency, ended its massive bond-buying program back in December but is now unveiling yet more stimulus in the face of weakening growth and external risks.

British MPs demand quick revelation of tariffs in case of No-Deal-Brexit

However, with the details not finalised, Fox said there was no agreement on whether to tell parliament before it must decide on March 12 whether to accept an unpopular exit agreement negotiated with the EU by Prime Minister Theresa May.

“Either you are making things more expensive that previously came in tariff-free from the EU, or, in some cases ... undermine the industry,” Clark said, giving ceramics as an example of where he thought there was unfair competition from China.

Brexit supporters like Fox view regaining the ability to set an independent trade policy as one of the main advantages of leaving the EU, arguing that Britain will have more success negotiating trade deals with other regions on its own.
